Can my dog eat iron tablets?

No.

Iron overdose is a real emergency, and the tablets often look like sweets.

Already ate it?

If they ate itEmergency. Go now with the packet — the elemental iron content decides the treatment.
Watch forVomiting and diarrhoea, sometimes with blood, in the first six hours; then an apparent recovery; then a crash (weakness, shock, liver failure) from 12 hours to four days.

Thinking of giving it?

Why not even a littleNo signs expected below 20 mg of elemental iron per kg; mild signs from 20 to 60; serious above 60; 100–200 mg per kg can kill. Check the elemental iron on the box — one ferrous sulphate tablet often holds 45–65 mg.
WhyAcute iron poisoning damages the gut lining first, then the liver. Prenatal vitamins are a common source.
