Can my dog eat detergent?

No.

Treat any cleaning product as an emergency. Washing powder and dish liquid mostly cause vomiting, but pods, bleach, phenyl, toilet cleaner and tezaab can burn the mouth, throat and stomach.

Already ate it?

If they ate itDon't make them vomit — it burns twice. Wipe the mouth and gently rinse it with water, then go to a vet now with the bottle, even if they look fine — burns can take hours to show.
Watch forDrooling, pawing at the mouth, mouth sores, vomiting, refusing food or water, coughing or fast breathing (after a pod) — some burns only show hours later.

Thinking of giving it?

WhyConcentrated bleach, toilet and drain cleaners, dishwasher tablets and tezaab are corrosive and burn on contact, not after digestion. Phenyl and phenol-type floor cleaners also burn, and a bitten pod squirts detergent into the lungs.
