Can my dog eat toffee?

No.

Sugar, and sugar-free sweets are far worse: the xylitol in them can kill a dog in tiny amounts. One ordinary toffee isn't an emergency.

Already ate it?

If they ate itIf it was sugar-free or contained xylitol, go to a vet immediately — this is one of the fastest-acting poisons a dog can find in a house.
Watch forIf xylitol: weakness, wobbliness, vomiting or collapse — often within 30 minutes, but up to 12–18 hours later. Ordinary toffee: vomiting or loose stool within a day.

Thinking of giving it?

WhyXylitol causes a rapid crash in blood sugar and can cause liver failure. A few sugar-free sweets can be enough to poison a medium-sized dog, and wrappers can block the gut.
